I had the good fortune to attend MPU yesterday. I've been hearing about it and other large gaming LAN's for ages but never got around to attending one. I've had a few LAN days at friend's houses, at work etc.. but nothing compares to a purpose-built LAN in a big venue:

The venue in question was the Parramatta Masonic Club. Apparently there were about 250 people there but there are usually more, over 300 or so. BTW, they're looking for a new venue, so if you know somewhere that can take over 300 well-behaved computer geeks on a monthly basis, drop Bane (Brent) a note.
This isn't meant to be an in-depth writeup of the event - suffice to say fun was had, games were played, people won and people lost. JimX and I had met up beforehand and I met a few people there, including VooDoo (Stewart) from MOS Technology, who had a stall there selling a variety of PC goodies to eager gamers as well as competing in a few events.

Anyway, most of the photos I took on the day were of some of the cool cases scattered around the hall. Quite a few overclockers obviously present and some budding case-modders too. First to catch my eye was that of [MOS]DeadEye, team-mate of VooDoo:

Pretty obviously tricked out with a neon kit, the side window was apparently cut with an angle-grinder.. hmm, delicate tool for delicate work I guess! Plenty of fans etc, however only bringing his P3-550 on a P3V4X to near the 600MHz mark.. I'm sure we'll see a better effort from him next month. :)

Next to catch my eye was a familiar case belonging to Strange1 - you might recognize it from the Case Modding Forum. Specs unknown, but love the rusted metal minimalist look. :)

Apparently the front temperature display is hooked up to a thermocouple embedded in the heatsink itself.. cool.
