Something of an unusual motherboard layout - note the power-connector next to the ram slots, instead of on the other side of the CPU slot as is more common. To my mind this would mean less heat in the board near the CPU and also better airflow - those power cables are stiff and can get in the way. All this means the floppy connector had to be moved nearer the CPU slot, though - but you can loop the cable around UNDER the board and not disrupt airflow. This board is commonly seen with a green heatsink on the larger BX chip (between the ram and CPU slots). Note also the big capacitors behind the CPU slot. These could possibly get in the way of a big sandwich-type cooler. |
