Senfu Super Box
Review by James 'Agg' Rolfe

Manufactured by: Senfu (Taiwan)

RRP: US$7.00
Availability: Limited. Buy direct from Senfu?

I'm sure that this unit from Senfu, along with their "DIY House", will make many people ask, simply, "Why?". I'm equally sure that there are a small number of people out there saying "Brilliant - that's exactly what I need!". What is it? It's the "Super Box", a slide-out drawer that fits into a 5.25" bay.

Senfu have included some rubber feet and the unit is moulded for stacking on the top and bottom, in case you decide to just stack them up on your desk. They also include 4 screws for mounting it firmly inside your case. The unit is quite well made, fits together well and has a few nice touches like metal surrounds to stop you stripping the screw holes and metal tabs to stop the drawer coming too far forward and falling out.

The unit is quite deep, as you can see in the below picture - about one and a half CD's deep. In fact it may be a little too deep, as I found it would push the cable off a CD-ROM drive if shoved into the bay underneath it (during installation, not during normal use of the drawer). This was only in the full-tower, though, where the cables are pretty tight. The unit is divided into 3 sections but you can remove the panels to make larger compartments. If you leave the front wall in, then the rear comparment is large enough to contain a CD in a sleeve (but not a hard plastic case) - you could stack quite a few in there, this could be useful for keeping all the drivers on CD and floppy for a given machine at close reach. The front section could then be used for small fiddly items.

Overall, my feelings about this are similar to those about the DIY House. I guess most people will not have a need for this type of unit, but I'm sure some people will - and those people would be happy with this unit from Senfu.

This unit is available from www.senfu.com.tw.
