Mostly getting back up to speed again now..

A cost-benefit analysis of the NBN has been released, and it claims the current Government's plan is better than the previous one's. An independent panel commissioned by the Government found the Coalition's multi-technology plan to roll out high-speed internet had greater net benefits than Labor's model of fibre to the premises. The review modelled four scenarios and found the Government's model would deliver about $18 billion in net benefits compared to almost $2 billion under Labor. More here.

There's now a 64-bit version of Chrome for Windows. 64-bit Chrome offers many benefits for speed, stability and security. Our measurements have shown that the native 64-bit version of Chrome has improved speed on many of our graphics and media benchmarks. For example, the VP9 codec thatís used in High Definition YouTube videos shows a 15% improvement in decoding performance. Stability measurements from people opted into our Canary, Dev and Beta 64-bit channels confirm that 64-bit rendering engines are almost twice as stable as 32-bit engines when handling typical web content. Which would make it about 1000x more stable than the Firefox install on this PC lately.

Seagate have shipped the first 8TB drives.
