IEEE have released info on WPA3, the new WiFi security standard. The biggest Wi-Fi security update in 14 years was recently unveiled by the Wi-Fi Alliance. The Wi-Fi Protected Access 3 (WPA3) security certificate protocol provides some much-needed updates to the WPA2 protocol introduced in 2004. Rather than a wholesale reworking of Wi-Fi security, WPA3 is focused on bringing new techniques to bear against the cracks that have begun to show in WPA2.
AMD have announced four new Ryzen CPUs. AMD has announced four new 2000-series processors based on Zen+ which fills out its launch of parts: two X-series processors at 65W focused on overclocking with Precision Boost overdrive, and two E series parts at 45W.
Here's a strange one: some TVs that were apparently used for unauthorised data collection will now ask you to sue their manufacturers, onscreen. The Parties are developing a class notice program with direct notification to the class through VIZIO Smart TV displays, which requires testing to make sure any TV notice can be properly displayed and functions as intended. The additional time requested will allow the parties to confirm that the notice program proposed in the motion for preliminary approval is workable and satisfies applicable legal standards.

They also report from IFA 2018 Berlin, a major consumer electronics show. Once again, the tech industry descended on Berlin with an overwhelming number of gadgets. Meanwhile OCC visited PAX West 2018, which has more of a gaming focus. The Seattle Convention Center was packed with hundreds of booths ranging from Contra-style indie shooters to build-your-own world and shared user-created content type games. Of course, PAX wouldn't have been complete without the big studios and the dozens of panels talking about your favorite subjects.
Speaking of games, I was sad to discover that this one isn't real. A NEW VR game gives players a simulated experience of being in a nice pub alone, enjoying a pint and not being bothered by anyone. Lone Daytime Drinker gives users the choice of 18 pubs around the UK, a full range of drinks, some battered Lee Child books and more than 450 individually-rendered NPCs who will leave you blissfully alone.
