For the first time since July 2001, two shuttles are on the launch pads at the same time at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. There's a cool (large) photo here. Endeavour will stand by at pad B in the unlikely event that a rescue mission is necessary during space shuttle Atlantis' upcoming mission to repair NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, targeted to launch Oct. 10. Wired looked at a history of robotic hands as well as some current technology. But copying the human hand hasn't been easy. Its complex muscular and skeletal structure offers a unique, tricky balance: It is dexterous, stable and precise, but also fast moving, strong and flexible. They also wonder if first-person shooters make you smarter.

HotHardware pulled apart one of those dell studio hybrid PCs on the weekend. So we were kicking around the lab for the weekend with nothing much to do (ok, ok, we have plenty to do but we decided to goof off). And what do any self-respecting Tech Geeks do with a little time on their hands? We take stuff apart of course.
