What is the Madden NFL Online Franchise
It's an online feature made available in Madden NFL 10 (and possibly in later releases). 32 players can connect over the Internet (in this case PSN) and play against each other through the NFL's regular season.
Franchise Operators
The following people are those behind the franchise. If owners (or newcomers) have any questions regarding the franchise please send them a private message through the OCAU forums.
Franchise Commissioner
wannabe360 (PSN ID: craptastic_101 playing as the Miami Dolphins)
Franchise Administrator
ni9ht_5ta1k3r (PSN ID: TheGhosts playing as the New England Patriots)
Requirements
To be eligible to join the OCAU Madden NFL 10 online Franchise (codenamed “disenfranchised”) you must meet the following requirements:
- Have some knowledge of how American football/Gridiron works (even a basic level of knowledge is enough). If you don’t feel free to read up on the basics of American football @ http://www.neonbubble.com/games/nfl-american-football-rules and http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/other_sports/american_football/3192002.stm as well as watch a few NFL games on OneHD/Foxtel before joining next season.
- A copy of Madden NFL 10 for the PlayStation®3 with the Online Franchise feature enabled. Sorry, but this online franchise is for PlayStation®3 owners: 360 owners will have to organise their own online franchise over Xbox Live!
- Be available for weekly games on weekends.
- Have played some online and offline games with other OCAU members.
- Be subscribed to EASPORTSWORLD.COM this can be done the first
Registrations
1. Pre-Season
Prior to a season commencing potential players must:
- Make their interests known, and
- Which team they would like to play as through the registration thread posted on the OCAU forums by the franchise commissioner.
The team roster will be constantly updated as more players choose their teams. Registrations for the Online Franchise will be open for two (2) weeks and the online franchise requires, at minimum, 10-15 players (out of the 32, 1 player per team) for it to be a viable season*. If players show interest but don’t meet any of the requirements (such as not having a copy of the game being most common) they will be listed as “pending”. If a player is still listed as “pending” when registrations close their spot in the Online Franchise will be removed and replaced by the CPU.
There will be six (6) teams (Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, and St Louis Rams) that will be strictly CPU controlled as their overall score (OVR) is below 70 and as a result will not fill the full 32 team roster. The remaining 26 teams can be filled by human players or be simulated by the game itself.
Once registrations have closed, participating players are now considered as “owners”. All owners have one (1) week to practice before their first game of the season begins and must have at least 1 practice session in before every subsequent game.
2. Mid-Season
If slots of teams are still available then we may allow mid-season registrations for those teams. If the franchise commissioner decides to open up (if there’s increased interest) mid-season registrations they will be held 8 (in-game) weeks into the season (i.e. after week 8). Mid-season registrations will only be open for 3-7 days before the season is resumed for week 9 onwards.

Team Trades
Team trades are not allowed while a season is in progress (this includes play-offs if your team is in the play-offs). Once a season has ended owners will be allowed to trade teams. Owners must find another owner who will trade/swap their team for your team. Notices of all team trades must be given to the franchise commissioner. Team trades will start for those whose teams are not in the Superbowl. The team to be traded for must also be available for trade. No pre-trade deals are to be made during the season: All trade negotiations and trades are to be made at the end of the season. Team trading ceases 1 week before the next season.
Leaving the Franchise
The franchise commissioner has full power to remove owners from the franchise if owner’s behaviour is deemed to be offensive and/or disruptive to other owners. If owners wish to leave (on their terms) the franchise mid-season they must provide a good reason for leaving and get approval from the franchise commissioner first before formally leaving the franchise. The affected team will then be taken over by the CPU in all future matches with the former owner receiving a DNF (did not finish) note. Owners can leave without penalty once a season has been completed.
Game Format
Each owner will have 17 games to play within the regular season. All games are set to the Pro skill level (or opposition difficulty) and run in four (4) 5 minute quarters (plus one quarter for over time if needed). All NFL rules apply (includes penalties and injuries). All weekly Games are to be held on Saturday or Sunday. All owners will be required to check who they’re playing next through EASPORTSWORLD.COM or through the in-game menu. All owners are to communicate with their opponents (through OCAU or PSN messaging) as to when to play the game. If you're playing against the CPU then you can just straight into the game.
(*THIS SECTION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BY THE FRANCHISE COMMISSIONER*)
Scores
All scores are made available through EA’s online franchise page. But since that page won’t be accessed by all outside of the franchise, the scores will be reposted on the franchise’s wiki page in a separate scoring page.

FAQ
Q: Are owners required to have a headset when playing their games?
A: No, owners are not required have or use headsets as this is a friendly franchise and we don’t want people bad mouthing each other. Headsets are optional.
Q: How do I contact the Franchise Commissioner?
A: wannabe360 is our official franchise commissioner. If you have any concerns or questions you can send a private message via the OCAU forums, or via the PSN to craptastic_101
Q: Where do I go to discuss about the online franchise?
A: The OCAU forums are the main place to discuss anything that’s related to the online franchise. All other information last old and latest scores will be post on the wiki page. There may be week-in-review posts to show the scores but it might not be needed but it might be a simple post saying “scores are updated: please see wiki page”.
Q: How long does the franchise last for?
A: The feature in the game is designed to allow us to have 10 in-game seasons within 1 franchise. But seeing as though we’re just starting out we don’t know how long the franchise will last depending on general interest in NFL, though we hope that it will be a successful franchise.
Q: I have Madden NFL 10 but I don’t have the online franchise mode enabled, what do I do?
A: This has happened due to an error by EA in not providing the code to redeem the mode. If you bought it brand new, and you have a receipt, you can email EA support and tell them you wish to have the online franchise mode: provide you EASPORTSWORLD.COM Login (no password) and your PSN ID that’s attached to the account. You should have an EASPORTSWORLD.COM account when you started up Madden NFL 10 for the first time. If your copy is second hand then you’ll need to purchase the feature to unlock it.
A: If a game is interrupted due to your connection to the EA servers dropping out then the game is simply restarted.
