[edit] Forum Thread

OCAU has an active and collegiate group of iRacers, who you'll find discussing the sim here. Its a good place to drop by and find out what categories are popular and when people are finding races in the local timezones. There's some fairly experienced hands there who can also help you with wallet-emptying hardware decisions.

[edit] Referral System

iRacing has a referral system available when registering an account. The new user can put the email address of an existing iRacer in to the referral field and that iRacer will gain $10 of credit. If you're thinking of signing up and haven't got a referrer in mind, please check-in to the the iRacing thread and ask for one - or contact one of the OC.AU racers below - and someone will happily take you up on your offer!

[edit] Newcomers to iRacing - Essential Reading

If you are new to iRacing, it is highly recommended that you read the iRacing Official Sporting Code, prior to joining any online events. The sporting code contains all the essential information needed to understand how iRacing works and should help answer many questions you may have.

Here are some more links to forum posts and websites that are of high value when starting out in iRacing:

Feel free to add them to your myracers list and dont forget to say gday before you wreck them out at Daytona!

[edit] Finding races with Statmonkey

A very valuable tool when it comes to deciding which series to race (and therefore which content to purchase) is what is known as statmonkey. Clicking on the "View by week" button will bring up a series of graphs. Each graph represents a series in iRacing and the columns represent the number of racers that participated in that race. Essentially - the more columns you see, the more races take place in that category.

For example, Skip Barber and the NVIDIA Cup enjoy very strong participation with plenty of official races - whereas the Sprint Car Cup has very few official races each week and almost none in evenings (Australian time).

[edit] G25 Gearbox Repairs

If your G25 H-Pattern shifter is giving you troubles then it's probably caused by a reasonably common fault. Referencing Chillicoke's great tutorial, Optimus adds some valuable alternative thoughts on the process here.
