What is the Madden NFL Online Franchise

It's an online feature made available in Madden NFL 10. 32 players can connect over the Internet (in this case PSN) and play against each other through the NFL's regular season.

Requirements

To be eligible to join the OCAU Madden NFL 10 online Franchise “disenfranchised” you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have some knowledge of how American football/Gridiron works (even a basic level of knowledge is enough).
  • If you don’t feel free to read up on the basics of American football <here> and <here> as well as watch a few NFL games on OneHD/Foxtel before joining next season.
  • A copy of Madden NFL 10 for the PlayStation®3 with the Online Franchise feature enabled. Sorry, but this online franchise is for PlayStation®3 owners: 360 owners will have to organise their own online franchise over Xbox Live!
  • Be available for weekly games on weekends.
  • Have played some online and offline games with other OCAU members.
  • Be subscribed to EASPORTSWORLD.COM this can be done the first

Registrations

Prior to a season commencing potential players must:

  • Make their interests known, and
  • Which team they would like to play as through the registration thread posted on the OCAU forums by the franchise commissioner.

The team roster will be constantly updated as more players choose their teams. Registrations for the Online Franchise will be open for two (2) weeks and the online franchise requires, at minimum, 10-15 players (out of the 32, 1 player per team) for it to be a viable season*. If players show interest but don’t meet any of the requirements (such as not having a copy of the game being most common) they will be listed as “pending”. If a player is still listed as “pending” when registrations close their spot in the Online Franchise will be removed and replaced by the CPU.

There will be six (6) teams (Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, and St Louis Rams) that will be strictly CPU controlled as their overall score (OVR) is below 70 and therefore will not fill the full 32 team roster. The remaining 26 teams can be filled by human players or be simulated by the game itself.

Once registrations have closed, participating players are now considered as “owners”. All owners have one (1) week to practice before their first game of the season begins and must have at least 1 practice session in before every subsequent game.

Team Trades

Team trades are not allowed while a season is in progress (this includes play-offs in your team is in the play-offs). Once a season has ended owners will be allowed to trade teams. Owners must find another owner who will trade/swap their team. Notices of all team trades must be given to the franchise commissioner. Team trades will start for those whose teams are not in the Superbowl. The team to be traded for must also be available. No pre-trade deals are to be made during the season: All trade negotiations and trades are to be made at the end of the season. Team trading ceases 1 week before the next season.

Leaving the Franchise

The franchise commissioner has full power to remove owners from the franchise if owner’s behaviour is deemed to be offensive and/or disruptive to other owners. If owners wish to leave (on their terms) the franchise they must provide a good reason for leaving and get approval from the franchise commissioner first before formally leaving the franchise. The affected team will then be taken over by the CPU in all future matches with the former owner receiving a DNF (did not finish) note. Owners can leave without penalty once a season has been completed.

Game Format

Each owner will have 17 games to play within the regular season. All games are set to the Pro skill level and run in four 5 minute quarters (plus one quarter for over time if needed). All NFL rules apply (includes penalties and injuries). All weekly Games are to be held on Saturday or Sunday. All owners will be required to check who they’re playing next through EASPORTSWORLD.COM or through the in-game menu. The franchise commissioner will decide when games will be played and what time (EST) they are to start. All owners must give a preference as to which day of the weekend they wish to play and times will be scheduled around that.

(*THIS SECTION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BY THE FRANCHISE COMMISSIONER*)

Scores

All scores are made available through EA’s online franchise page. But since that page won’t be accessed by all outside of the franchise, the scores will be reposted on the franchise’s wiki page.
