A common complaint of OOo relates to performance. A standard installation can feel quite slow to load. Luckily, it is easily fixed.

Follow the steps below to get a snappier OOo installation.

  1. Open an OOo application and go to the Options menu (location may differ according to platform)
  2. Under the OpenOffice.org heading, select the Memory page of Options
  3. Set "Number of Steps" to 20
  4. Set Graphics cache to 128 MB
  5. Set Memory per object to 20.0 MB
  6. Set Number of objects to 20
  7. Enable the Quickstarter option
  8. Click OK to save your changes
  9. Marvel at the speed of OOo
