Vista Compatibility List

(Difference between revisions)

(Game List)
Line 1: Line 1:
This page is here as a list of games that are compatible with Windows Vista.

If a game is unknown for a certain architecture being lightgray for x64 or x32 it is presumed to be cross compatible between x32/64 as Vista is coded nearly identical on both but with some changes where as XP 64/32 was a different code base (confirm) for each system which introduced many problems into normal games and applications.

Feel free to edit this page and update the list as you please.

== Starforce ==

Starforce is a copy protection driver that when games written specifically for XP are run on Vista, they will usually refuse to work or will BSOD the OS

It is recommended to update starforce with a version for Vista which is version 5.5 or higher, The latest version is available for download [http://www.star-force.com/support/drivers/ here]

Note: Some older games won't run or may bsod (rending your system in need of a full re-install) your Vista system, even when you have the latest starforce driver installed, as some older games try to install there own starforce version regardless if you have a updated version installed.

----

Try to keep your DirectX install up to date as he latest DirectX can sometimes fix some older compatibility problems.

<!--

  Please make sure you keep the list in alphabetical order and use the right colours.

  Copy and past from a existing game to make it easier.

  Only add games in that work and run on XP or earlier. Don't want a list of Vista only games here, Keep that for another Wiki Page.

  For game explorer you have to run the game once for game explorer to recognize the game

  When editing please make proper edits don't just put '- I tested this and doesn't work' to the end of the comment already there

  - Actually edit the comment there adding what you found as part of the comment.
