Graphics Card Temperature Log

This page will one day hopefully contain a large database of graphics card temperatures. The first thought of any newbie overclocker is "How do I know when I've gone too far?" As heat is the main issue that will cause an Overclock to fail (especially without aftermarket cooling), a large database should give a newbie a rough idea of how much further they can stretch their piece of hardware.

Remember, each piece of hardware is UNIQUE. Just because one chip can reach a certain speed at a certain temperature does not guarantee any other can. Hardware can be killed quite easily when overclocking so be careful but above all BE SENSIBLE. Do not try to change that 6800LE into a 6800 Ultra in one go (Put simply, there's a reason why that chip didn't cost as much. It's not as good.)



At this stage I am thinking about how to set up the page. There are obviously a huge number of variables that determine how hot a GPU gets - but ten lines of description going into case fan details just won't result in a readable page. I'm thinking to restrict this to only a consideration of VGA cooler and case on/off - since I think we can assume most people on OCAU know enough to set up their case with good enough air flow.

Comments most welcome (even saying this is a waste of time, perhaps a bit less welcome)

Basic Model name e.g. 6800XT
 Speed (core/mem) e.g. 325/700 [obviously more entries at stock speeds] and pp/vp (for cards that can be unlocked)
 Temps (core/amb) e.g. 50/45 -  Extended model info (maker, interface, memory) e.g. XFX 6800XT AGP 128MB + COOLER INFO + CASE OFF (if case off)
