Go to about :config (remove the space it should be one word) in the address bar then change the following settings.

  • browser.download.manager.openDelay = 0
  • network.http.max-connections = 32
  • network.http.max-connections-per-server = 16
  • network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy = 8
  • network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server = 4
  • network.http.pipelining = true
  • network.http.pipelining.firstrequest = false
  • network.http.pipelining.maxrequests = 4
  • network.http.proxy.pipelining = true
  • nglayout.initialpaint.delay = 0

  • To improve the startup time of Firefox add this prefix to the firefox shortcut. (Windows XP Tweak)

 /prefetch:1 
  • To add the prefix to the Firefox shortcut take these steps:
  1. Right mouse click on a Firefox shortcut then go to properties.
  2. In the shortcut properties tab select Target and change the value so it looks like the example below.


  • Example: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" /prefetch:1

  • Java (Enables Java in Firefox)
  • NetUsage (Fetches an XML feed of the usage details from most Australian Broadband ISP's and displays it in a handy metre)
  • Tab Mix Plus (Gives you the option to customize the Tabs in Firefox the way you like)
  • Forecastfox (Displays weather forecasts in any toolbar or statusbar)
  • Adblock Plus (Allows you to block ads that you dislike on websites)
  • IE Tab (Allows you to use Internet Explorer to view pages in tabs of Mozilla/Firefox)
  • NoScript (Allow active content to run only from sites you trust, and protect yourself against XSS)
  • Firebug (You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page...)
