[edit] Why is OCAU on the ladder?
"A good number of the regular OCAU players were interested in having an informal entrance into the GA ladder for BF2.
Basically the idea is that we still are not a clan. We don't have ranking members, or anything like that. The GA ladder is just a way for those of us who aren't part of another clan to get the chance to fight against an organised opponent who is actually trying to win for the teams sake rather then just whore points.
This should help us improve our game and bring more teamwork into it." -Deltoid

[edit] Joining the Team
The OCAU Gamearena Ladder team was started so that the guys that play together regularly on public servers against unorganised opponents could test their skills and strategies out on organised teams, as well as improve their games. To keep the spirit of the original camaraderie, the team has been loosely restricted to those who have been around and contributed to the OCAU Forums for some time, and developed a reputation playing on public servers with OCAU squads.
If you are interested in joining you need to meet the following:
1. Must have 'member' status of OCAU, which is >3 months membership. Not 'new member'. If you are a new member but you want to join then post in the OCAU Battlefield 2 GA Ladder Thread and tell us why we should let you. We will make exceptions for new members who play on public servers alot with us.
2. Have a minimum ingame rank of Corporal, or have over 800 points. This low rank is easily attainable, but just helps to guarantee that players have some experience and can be relied on in the heat of battle.
In order to sign up, follow these steps:
1. Sign up to game arena
2. PM sabretooth with your GA username. Once you've done this we will PM you back to tell you that you've been added to the team.
3. You must then add yourself to the BF2 rollcall wiki if you are not already in that list then add yourself at the bottom. If you are already on the list, add your Gamearena username. Players who do not add their Gamearena username to the list but apply to the team will not be admitted. If you can't work it out PM Deltoid, Nommic or matt89 or ask in the the OCAU Battlefield 2 GA Ladder Thread.
[edit] Overclockers Australia BF2 Team Forum
Whether or not we'll admit it, the 'informal group of guys wanting better opponents' is becoming more and more of a competitive clan, and every clan needs a private forum, right - otherwise t3h 07h3r 1337 klAn hAX0rs will hAX our strategies!!1!one! So [Sabretooth] whipped up the Overclockers Australia BF2 Team Forum with both a public section and private section, which is a members-only area to discuss upcoming games and strategies.
[edit] Getting a Spot in a Game
Its a tough job having to decide who gets to play and who doesn't and we are trying to make it as fair as possible. At the moment we are using a weighting scheme.
- New team members who are not regulars start at -1 when they are added to the ladder
- New team members who are regulars start at 0 when they are added to the ladder.
- When members play a match then -1 from their rating
- If they are a "no show" for a match then -2 from their rating
- If they are not selected for a match then +1 to their rating
- If they are selected as a reserve and don't get to play +2 to their rating.
This way it ensures that everyone gets a fair go and plays. People with the highest rating that are able to play get picked before the others. As more games go on this will seperate more and more people and make selecting people alot easier.
Also note that if someone was just added to the team then they will most likely not be selected in the first game since they joined the team regardless of their rating.
[edit] Choosing a Commander
Commander is a very important role and we choose the person for this purely on their in-game performance in the role. So far we have fathermucka, itsmydamnation and meTHOD_stu as the commanders. If you think you are good at the position please let the captains know and we will trial you out in friendly scrims. If need be we ignore the player's rating when selecting commander to ensure we have someone who is capable in the role.
