Urban Exploration

Urban exploration is the exploring of unknown or hidden places, that are normally off limits. Places are often right under our noses, that old, abandoned building, or that vacant plot of land down the road, to huge abandoned industrial complexes.

Urban exploring (UE) is not just limited to abandoned sites, the other, more risky type of UE is exploration of active sites.

These photos, taken at a eastern melbourne brick works, early this year, look as if they had been taken from somewhere miles from the city, but in reality the city is a 15km away. Its an strange feeling being at the base of the quarry, as you cannot hear a thing. It is like being stuck in the middle of the bush. About 12 months ago the brick factory was demolished, i personally never saw the factorys, but apparently it was one of the best UE sites in melbourne.

This area of Melbourne is rich in UE sites, although many have been torn down, and built into housing estates, but within five minuets of the brickworks there are two other sites, which i will post photos of in the future.
