  • What is battle.net and how does it work?
    • Battle.net operates very much like Valve's Steam software to act as both a form of digital distribution as well as management for all Blizzard games. Once you purchase your copy of Starcraft 2 and activate it on your battle.net account it will be locked to this account indefinitely. Visit the Official battle.net website for more details.
  • As an Australian player what region(s) am I eligible to play on?
    • Australians who purchase an Australian, New Zealand or SEA (South East Asia) copy of Starcraft II will have access to both the SEA (South East Asia) and NA (North American) Servers. For more details see Starcraft-SEA Facebook
  • I can't wait to play my favourite race in the single player campaign. For the swarm!
    • The Starcraft Single Player campaign will be released episodically so please be patient while these features are available for more info see the Blizzard trilogy FAQ

Updating

Starcraft 2 deletes the update files after you download and install them. For multiple systems or re-installs this can be a problem when updates get to 1gb+ in size.

Luckily we can backup and restore the update files to save a heavy redownload later.

To do this follow these steps:

  • Start Starcraft 2 and let it update normally.
  • Minimize out of the update screen and Don't click play as the update files will be deleted.
  • So into the Starcraft 2 directory and copy the updates folder and the torrent and other update files from the main Starcraft 2 directory to another directory of your choice.
  • After that is done you can now click play.

Installing updates:

  • Copy (not move) all the files from your updates backup directory to the root of the starcraft 2 folder.
  • Load starcraft 2 normally and it will update using the files you copied and download any new updates you don't have.
  • Check the folder if any new updates have been downloaded and copy those over to your updates folder. (copying all the updates over again is quicker)
  • You can play after the update and backup of new updates are done.

Notes:

  • You can reuse the same directory for all update files just adding the new files for each patch that comes out to the directory.
  • Sometimes the update may have problems installing, if this happens run the starcraft 2 repair tool and retry to update.
