Dramas continue for The Pirate Bay, with the U.K.'s High Court ordering ISPs to block access to their site. A High Court judge told Sky, Everything Everywhere, TalkTalk, O2 and Virgin Media to prevent access to the Swedish site, which helps millions of people download copyrighted music, movies and computer games. Phoronix looks at the integrated graphics performance of Intel's Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge processors using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Windows 7. While the Sandy Bridge graphics performance was once faster when it came to OpenGL with the open-source Linux driver, that's no longer the case. The Linux OpenGL performance for both Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge hardware is now slower in most GL workloads than Intel's Windows 7 x64 driver.

The University of NSW is aiming to have prototypes of a bionic eye ready for testing next year. With the bionic eye, images captured by a camera are processed by an external unit, such as a smart phone then relayed to the implant’s chip. This stimulates the retina, sending electrical signals along the optic nerve into the brain where they are decoded as vision.
