Saw Skyfall today.. not bad at all. Better than the last two.

The UN have an internet treaty conference next month, and it's claimed that national governments want broader control. Russia's proposals would, if adopted, dramatically affect Internet governance, transferring power from engineering-based organizations such as the Internet Society and ICANN to national governments, all under the authority of the UN. Many people are concerned, including Google. A free and open world depends on a free and open Internet. Governments alone, working behind closed doors, should not direct its future. The billions of people around the globe who use the Internet should have a voice.

Australia has new Airborne Early Warning & Control aircraft. The Wedgetail project had a budget of more than $3.4 billion dollars and has now delivered six 737-700 commercial aircraft all of which carry a world class air battle management capability. Final Operational Capability (FOC) is expected in 2013-2014.

Manhattan's recent flooding has faded from the headlines, but there's still a big cleanup project underway - including the underground cabling. On Wednesday, two weeks after the storm, I met with Verizon's Executive Director of Operations, Christopher D. Levendos, who showed me the extent of the damage and repairs. Levendos tells me the 90,000 cubic foot cable vault has suffered a “catastrophic failure,” far worse than the damage done to a similar, but much larger vault at Verizon’s West Street headquarters near the World Trade Center.

Startup-promoting website Kickstarter are being sued by a 3D printing company over a project on their site. More than 2,000 users contributed over $2.9m (£1.8m) to help Massachusetts-based Formlabs build the device. However, 3D Systems - a leading maker of printers that turn computer design files into real-world objects - has alleged one of its patents was being infringed by the machine.

TechSpot have an article on the Rise and Fall of AMD. Considering that it was once considered an equal to Intel, many wonder why AMD is failing today. However, it's probably fairer to ask how the company has survived so for long -- a question we intend to explore as we revisit the company's past, examine its present and gaze into its future.

Western Digital have a 4TB Black drive. It's shipping a 4TB version of its WD Black desktop drive that holds nothing back for the sake of the extra storage, spinning at a healthy 7,200RPM while packing 64MB of cache, dual processing and a two-stage actuator that together keep the drive working at full burn.
