There's a series of privacy rallies planned in Australian cities tomorrow. The so-called National Day of Action has the backing of Pirate Party Australia, The Greens, WikiLeaks Party, Electronic Frontiers Australia and other political alliances. Rallies have so far been called in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, and the organisers are seeking others to spread the action to further areas of Australia.

Albanese was appointed as communications minister on Monday as part of a reshuffle of the federal Cabinet as a result of Kevin Rudd replacing former Prime Minister Julia Gillard as the leader of the Labor party last week.
