I did think that earlier Lenovo story sounded a bit odd, and the Dept of Defence have refuted it now. Reports published on 27 and 29 July 2013 in the Australian Financial Review allege a Department of Defence ban on the use of Lenovo computer equipment on the Defence Secret and Top Secret Networks. This reporting is factually incorrect. There is no Department of Defence ban on the Lenovo Company or their computer products; either for classified or unclassified systems.

An Australian teenager has won the 2013 Rubik's Cube World Championship. MANY of us have owned a Rubik's Cube for most of our lives and yet have not once been able to solve it. Microsoft have a blog post about triple-screen 4K monitor gaming. Let’s just say this was an intense experience!

Harvard have made remote thought-controlled animals. Researchers at Harvard University have created the first noninvasive brain-to-brain interface (BBI) between a human… and a rat. Simply by thinking the appropriate thought, the BBI allows the human to control the rat’s tail. When is "I want to control that rat's tail with my mind" an appropriate thought? Creepy.

Also creepy is The Guardian's latest report on the NSA's grip on the net. XKeyscore, the documents boast, is the NSA's "widest reaching" system developing intelligence from computer networks – what the agency calls Digital Network Intelligence (DNI). One presentation claims the program covers "nearly everything a typical user does on the internet", including the content of emails, websites visited and searches, as well as their metadata.

Saint's Row IV is still banned in Oz, thanks Kie. A three-member panel of the Classification Review Board has unanimously determined that the computer game Saints Row IV is classified Refused Classification. In the Review Board’s opinion, Saints Row IV could not be accommodated within the R 18+ classification as drug use related to incentives and rewards is not permitted.
