A couple of people let me know that the earlier Turing Test story has some flaws which make it probably not the big deal it seemed to be, with more info here. This was widely acknowledged as a ‘pass’ of the Turing test, but experts have now moved to dispute this. Professor Murray Shanahan of the Department of Computing at Imperial College London told Buzzfeed it was ‘a great shame’ the test was reported as passed.

iiNet have a blog post about piracy in Australia, from an ISP's perspective. The Australian Government is readying legislation, if news reports are to be believed, which would require ISPs such as iiNet to send infringement notices to our customers while, at the same time, blocking certain websites which provide access for customers to download and share unauthorised content. We believe the Government is heading down the wrong path if they’re serious about protecting copyright.

E3 is currently underway in Los Angeles, with a slew of gaming announcements.
