It appears NASA have been working on faster-than-light space travel, and have released a 3D render (with obligatory lens flare) of their Warp Drive Spaceship. They discovered a loophole that could theoretically allow faster-than-light travel without breaking the laws of physics. Discussion here.
Gizmodo have posted an episode of Computer Chronicles up from 1991: How To Build The Best PC 1991 Had To Offer. The best part? Adding in faux-floppy faceplates (seen around 5:50) to make it seem like you have more drives than you actually do. Because you can never have too many floppy drives.
Intel's appeal against the $1.06 billion euro fine from the European Commission from 2009 has been denied. A huge ocean has been discovered near the Earth's core, estimated to be three times the volume of all our existing oceans. The water is hidden inside a blue rock called ringwoodite that lies 700 kilometres underground in the mantle, the layer of hot rock between Earth's surface and its core.
Microsoft are busy developing a smartphone battery that can last up to a week without recharging. Chandra said Microsoft Research has tackled the problem not just by focusing on the battery technology, but also on making the power consumption of a device more efficient using existing battery technologies.
