BlueSmurf's The Imperator page has been updated with more construction progress, including hot blowtorch action. More info in this thread.

It's been a bit quiet in the PC Database lately, but I did notice a nice minimalist approach from Shado5, while omega's is much less subtle.

Lepus pointed out Ray Shaw's site, which makes some strong claims about resellers sabotaging products in his June 2003 Report. Seems the company concerned is “discretely” spraying a corrosive substance (like Mag Alloy Wheel Cleaner) into an unused PCI or memory slot on the motherboard when it comes in for repairs or upgrades and the spray takes about 4 weeks to eat into the solder and the board becomes unreliable. Strong claims indeed!

HotHardware have a sneak peek at ATI's P4 motherboard chipset, the Radeon 9100 IGP. They took a pre-production motherboard based on the chipset for a spin.

If you scroll down a little on RojakPot, they are claiming that AMD will name the so-called Thorton chips (Barton with only 256KB of L2 cache) Athlon FX. Seems an odd name as it's more of a Duron type product, and they haven't confirmed with AMD yet, so I'd just treat it as a rumour for now.

We had glow-in-the-dark camels the other day, now Daniel has spotted fish that glow. I remember when I worked in Bangkok for a few weeks (doing network upgrades, honest) it was pretty common to see elephants walking down the main roads with their handlers. They used to stick a strip of reflective tape to their backsides to stop cars from running into the back of them at night. :)

Dan has yet more letters with answers.

The warnings we received about hackers disrupting websites on the weekend were perhaps a little overstated, as it turned out the hackers were disrupted themselves.

Funny stuff about porn-vs-programming on BBSpot, thanks Kerridwyn.

HardOCP compared the lower-end video cards from NVIDIA and ATI, namely the GeForce FX 5200 and Radeon 9200.

Xbit have an article about the 64bit evolution of CPU technology.

te_kin found an interesting article which challenges the "loner nerd" stereotype of a computer gamer.
