Certainly no shortage of stuff going on tonight!
A review of the Leadtek GeForce2 card (mentioned in the last news post as available in Oz now) here on Guru3D.
TweakTown have checked out the QuickCam Express, a USB video-conferencing camera..
InsaneHardware have the updated K7V bios (v 1005a), ready-hacked for different L2 cache ratios.. get 'em here
OCTools have taken a crack at overclocking their 600E..
Les shared an interesting observation about Athlon cache chips: Talking of heat plates, I put a 25mm x 25mm hole stright through mine the other day, and modified my water block so it protruded through the hole directly onto the core. I have can now keep the core within 4 or 5 deg of ambient unber full load (measured at the core). I have also experimented with cooling the cache and no ammount of cooling would let me overclock them significantly. The produce very little heat of their own, a get heated by the core via the heatplate more than anything else. While it is probably critical to at least have a reasonably small gap from the heatplate to the cache chips, as long as theres some heatsink compound in the gap, and as long as the heatplate is not heating them, there is very little to gain by spending time shimming them etc. This was prompted by my observation that the cache chips on my Athlon are not touching the cold plate at all (there's a visible air gap). Seems that may be a good thing sometimes. It's stable a 1GHz @ 1.7v, 1/3 L2 cache ratio with basically no cache cooling - the cache chips are within spec at 1/3 of course, but still..
