Well, I got word from the current hosting company this morning.. basically the site is killing their server and they want me to either get a dedicated box with them or sod off. :)
So. [deep sigh] .. movin' time again. I am building a dedicated box which I will co-locate with an ISP or someone in Sydney. The cool thing about this is that I will own the box, so [a] it will be a kickass box and it will have pretty much unlimited disk space, memory, utilization etc. I am also working out an "unlimited" bandwidth deal.. (turns out that "unlimited" means about 500mb/day with the current company, with the KA7 review we did about 1.2GB yesterday). This should also be well over-spec for what this site needs, so it should stay there for a long time.
At the moment it looks like I will host the machine on Zip's network.. if you know of any other companies in Sydney that offer co-location (ie, you give them a box to put on their LAN with bigass internet connection), drop me a note, thanks..
I think I've bought myself about 2 weeks to get off the current provider. Don't worry about using the forums or anything, the normal daily traffic is fine, it's just the big peak days from new reviews that are a problem. So no more new reviews until we move. They have also capped the bandwidth that the server can use.. sigh.. so I don't know if this will lead to any outages or drop in performance during those two weeks.. we'll have to see.
