Theone333 points out this article on cnet which is a mass-market view of overclocking. I don't know whether to laugh or cry with this stuff, really.. some quotes: Honaker says a peltier setup allows him to keep his processor running at a brisk 45 degrees, but not without some work. "To do that, I had to waterproof practically every component in my system because condensation is such a concern," he said... uhm, how many peltiers is he using on "practically every component" ..? The most common overclocking techniques increase the power supplied to everything connected to the motherboard, meaning that graphics processors, hard drives and other components may overheat or perform erratically. Close.. but no. "You're dealing with a lot of heat," Blevins said. "I've had friends get third-degree burns working on their systems." .. this is laughable, someone obviously has no idea what a third-degree burn really is. FYI, contact with a 60C surface takes 5 seconds to form a 3rd degree burn. What, these people are falling into their fulltowers and being pinned against their CPU cores by their fans? :)

On a sadder note, Andy from BXBoards.com posted a note on their front page giving notice that he's closing the site. BXBoards has been one of the pillars of the hardware and overclocking scene since before OCAU started and it's a real shame to see it go. While I don't necessarily agree with everything he says on the front page of his site, I can understand how he feels and why he's perhaps a little bitter. I knew that the current website shakedown would claim a lot of sites but I never thought BXBoards would be one. Sorry to see you go Andy, good luck with your future endeavours!
