Tuesday Morning Part I (0 Comments) (link)
 Tuesday, 20-March-2001  11:58:14 (GMT +10) - by alchemy

First thing off the bat this morning is not about overclocking, or even computers. It't about beer. But trust me, its worth it. Go here and watch this.. you'll of had of seen one of the earlier budweiser wazzzzzzuppp commercials to fully get the joke.. but still, I've watched it about 40-odd times so far and it still makes me laugh.

Anyway, back on topic.. news box is verrrry full this morning, so I can see this being a fairly long post..

That crazy German site Hart-Core.de has put up some pictures of some pretty serious looking radiators.. all the text is in German (could always feed the 'fish), but the pictures pretty much speak for themselves.

KngtRider (spelt correctly now) was first into the news box this morning with news of a new version of SiSoft Sandra - 2001se. It's mainly just an update adding support for new hardware and fixing bugs - most notably support for Win200X (I presume this means WinXP as well). You might want to head over and download it.. I'm sure alot of people are going to be talking about it soon..

The TechZone take a look at the AMK LAN case.. sounds like a good idea - small cases are easier to carry around to lans than a beasty old HQ-08.. but then.. even if you put your whole clan's Jolt bottles on top of it, you still dont look elitez0r as Mr.HQ-08.

HarBinger sends word that there is a new type of music-media format out - the DataPlay CD. Looks Suspiciously like a MiniDisc to me.. except it holds more data. They make it sound as if the compression they're doing is a big thing as well - don't they know MiniDisc already uses a 1:5 compression algorithm?

3DSpot have a tweak guide up for Counter-Strike v1.1 using the Half-Life 1.1.0.6 engine... looks to be for the newbie amoung us.. incidently MegaBaz sends word that the frago LAN is happening again on 8 April. Register here if you're keen.

The people of FutureLooks have been giving their employees crack and sending them into the future? I think thats what the email said.. but seriously, interesting read about where the Internet has come from, and where the author thinks it's heading.

6-way Thermal Paste roundup over on ExtremeOverclocking. It's beyond me how thermal paste has become *such* a big thing.. I remember buying a tube of white thermal goop back when a 600MHz Slot-A Athlon was da bomb.. and everyone in the shop looked at me as if I was an idiot for wasting $3.. little did they know 8 months later I'd be paying $22 for some toxic silver stuff in a syringe.

Another techsite with a name I can't figure out, Techmocracy looks at the A7V133 voltage mod... hot chips :)

Agg just told me on IRC that he's received a zillion emails from people wanting those fan adapters that chainbolt reviewed.. well, stop emailing him. He's not from Japan, and they'll be frightfully expensive with the Aussie Dollar and shipping factored in.. what you can do, however, is head over to here in the forums where a member, brad66 is looking at fabricating some perspex ones. They look pretty cool, and there looks to be alot of interest in them. Hope he goes ahead with them..

Reviews:
GlideUnderground take a look at "Hitman: Codename 47". It's a game. With guns.
Merc100 speak to IBM about BlueTooth.
16X Pioneer DVD Drive over on TweakTown. Nice Drive. I've got one :)
Senfu Thermistor over on MikhailTech.
Soc from CaseJunkiez looks at the Icemat.
Digit-Life is looking back on 3dfx. A few years ago a 6Mb Canopus Pure3D was absolutley GF3-type hardcore.. and it only cost $300AUD too.. remember that kids.
VideoCardDrivers.com are overclocking the GF2 MX.

Thats all for now.. the newsbox is still about 2/3 full so I'll be back later. Keep it comming, I'm a sucker for punishment :)
