Australia's Attorney-General has published the transcript of a speech to the recent Australian Smart Card Summit. It covers a few topics including identity crime and terrorism. From October, Australia will start using ePassports. These will incorporate a contactless chip containing biometric information. More info in the 79KB PDF here.

The AG also announced that dishonestly accessing pay TV services will be criminalised soon. Seems strange that it isn't already illegal. The proposed laws will criminalise some unauthorised activities that are not currently criminal offences, including dishonestly accessing a pay TV service in a private home. More info in a 42KB DOC here.

Antec announced their Sonata II case. Sonata II combines the classic style and silent performance of the original Sonata quiet computing case with upgraded features and an innovative cooling design for handling the latest and fastest technologies. Asetek introduced their new WaterChill 12V pump for watercooling. This not only has an integrated reservoir, but features USB/software control. Save user profile settings for different set-ups (e.g. gaming, working & overclocking etc.) for easy configuration. More info here.

Compro announced two new TV tuner boxes. The VideoMate U900 (TV Tiny) is apparently "the smallest USB 2.0 full functions analog TV tuner and Video/Audio Capture Box", while the VideoMate U880 (TV Stick) is the "smallest USB 2.0 analog TV tuner box", they claim. These things really are tiny, not much bigger than flash drives. More info in a couple of DOC files: VideoMate U880 and VideoMate U900.
