Designtechnica has an article up about Apple's Summer Surprise...With Apple effectively announcing the end of all Power-based products, it is really hard to see how Apple hardware can survive until the Intel-based offerings show up. Given that Apple normally isn’t this stupid, it has led many of us to speculate that there is a summer announcement that will provide the market with its next iPod-like offering. Full article, here.

Hardware Secrets has a handy article posted, letting us know how to correctly desolder electrical components from PCBs like Motherboards and Videocards. Update: There's been a few comments that this isn't perhaps the best technique after all, so keep your grain of salt handy.

Hehe, I guess I'll just quote what I got in the e-mail, cos I don't think it can be worded any better...Are you sick of people looking at your breed of dog in fear because politicians and the media are saying things like; "We want to breed these dogs out of existence," "They are killing machines on a leash" "These breeds don't belong in our community"? Well worry no longer, attachchi will be making disguises for all the so called 'dangerous breeds'. Now you can go to the park with your kids and your dog (like you have been doing for years), without the worry of people thinking you are a bad parent. Check out the site here, thanks for sending that in Amfibius!

Peter sent in that ABC has come up with an interactive map for Google Earth, showing where the bombings occurred in London. There is also a zip file linked in the article which you can download and run to show where things happened and details from the reporters.

Gideon have an interesting project article up, showing us how to shrink our monitor housing. Here's a snip from the article: If you ever wished your LCD monitor just had a little less real estate around the borders, here's your chance to shrink it. Some previous generation LCD monitors are great, except for the huge housing it sits in. One of our members came up with this neat project to cure the issue.

PimpRig sent in news about one of their 'master modding members' has been working on a special mod project to recreate a life-size R2-D2 PC from scratch for the past month. He's working hard, so there has been lots of updates lately. Check it out here.

PC Review has a new article introducing Voice over IP telephony and explains a bit more about it along with some of the recommended software.

On the topic of VoIP, The TechZone has a new article on what the phone companies are trying to do in order to stop the growth of VoIP.
