Coupla updates: I upgraded the forums to v2.2.4 this morning, from v2.2.2. Some security patches but mostly bugfixes.. haven't looked around the forums too much this morning so not sure if there's any noticeable changes. Also, last night I moved the rest of the site over to the new ad-management software. The old perl-based stuff caused a fair bit of server load and was usually the first thing to die when the server got really busy.. the new proggy has been in testing in the forums for a while and I've moved it out to the rest of the site now. PHP+MySQL-based goodness, of course.

Special congrats to Realtime Systems, the Australian distributor for Corsair memory. They've been appointed a Premier Solution Provider by Corsair Micro - one of only 5 in the world. Realtime have been involved with OCAU for a long time now and it's nice to see them getting some recognition. Speaking of which, Hexus have info on Corsair's new XMS3000 memory.

Jediguy spotted info on the Lord of the Rings DVD.. and started a forum thread about it. Wolfy found more info here.. 4 DVD's!

AMDPower have something a little unusual.. a linux review of the Shuttle AK35GTR motherboard.

There's some debate about whether 1024-bit encryption can still be considered secure, thanks F1DarkFlash.

HotHardware have info on using Comanche 4 as a DirectX benchmark.

More info on the latest silly copyright law proposed in the USA on Wired.

Scarifier noticed this article about fibre in your loungeroom on Whirlpool.. we keep hearing all kinds of broadband promises, but here I am still, stuck on dialup.

FiringSquad have a roundup of 760MPX motherboards.. mmm, dual SocketA.

Interesting new Silence Machine technology, thanks Ropable, who suggests it's a new way to silence those case fans? :)

Considering Apple's long-standing commitment to the education sector, booting a volunteer developer because he's too young seems an odd move. I blame the lawyers.

Our own MWP, creator of the PC DataBase has been busy writing this LCD software for CrystalFontz. Apparently it supports serial and parallel port LCD's and, in his own modest words, it's kinda like lcdcenter, lcddriver and the rest of them, but much better ;) So, after you've made your own DIY LCD, you now have something to drive it with. Hurrah!

Flash 6 is also out. Also hurrah. Thanks dink.
