Ok, time for some news catchup. Firstly the big story is that high-profile Linux and ReiserFS programmer Hans Reiser has been found guilty of the first-degree murder of his wife. By the time he was done, Reiser had succeeded only in dispelling the cloud of ambiguity surrounding his actions in the case, replacing it with a storm of very specific explanations that each strained credulity.

Rezin noticed that today's "Giveaway of the Day" (for the next hour and a half only) is Coding FTP, which sounds like a fairly handy scriptable FTP client. Maybe you don’t want to click a button? No problem! You can use any scheduler, e.g. Windows Task Scheduler, to automate the script. Now, you can focus on your work and let Coding FTP upload/download/delete files for you automatically.

I can't remember who now, but someone from IRC noticed that Channel Nine have a Catch Up TV page where you can watch TV shows you missed. Free downloads of Channel Nine's blockbuster new series Canal Road and Sea Patrol II are available on Catch-Up TV for the first time. Australia's CDMA network was recently turned off, thanks Sniper. Goldsworthy explained that: "Our team has been preparing for the closure of the CDMA network for more than two years and nothing has been left to chance. CDMA customers have been individually contacted by phone, letter and SMS messages in an effort to remind them of the need to migrate to a new mobile network."

Back to iPods, this time with a warning from Police that they can be distracting when crossing the road. The Police website is here. Recent growth in the use of portable media players and mobile phone usage has led to a need for greater awareness amongst both pedestrians and motorists to ensure these new technologies don’t lead to a rise in pedestrian accidents.

CPU3D have a thermal paste shootout. Thanks to our CPU3D review team, we take a look at 3 thermal paste products from Antec, OCZ and Xigamatek. Does the quality of thermal paste really improve cooling performance? We put these products to the test using our Q6600 processor and various looping benchmarks.
