WA-based ISPs iiNet and Westnet have joined forces after iiNet paid them $81 million. The combined user base will make iiNet the third largest ISP in Australia, though Westnet will continue to operate under its own brand. From Whirlpool: iiNet will be able to use Westnet's mainly resold services to boost the use of its own DSLAM infrastructure. It also gains Westnet's large agent/reseller network and will now be able to offer satellite services. Westnet will gain access to iiNet's ADSL2+, naked DSL and VoIP products.

Sony have unveiled a prototype fuel-cell system measuring roughly 50 × 30mm. The new fuel-cell system is direct methanol type and uses methanol as fuel. Also, it is an active fuel-cell system, which controls fuel supply with a pump. The system is hybrid type with the output supplemented by a Li-polymer secondary battery.
