You might have noticed I've been a bit quiet lately - on Saturday the 21st my wife and I welcomed our second child into the world, Charlotte Rolfe. All happy and healthy, but I wouldn't mind a bit more sleep. :) Thanks to Rezin and DiGiTaL_MoNkEY for their awesome work keeping the news page flowing. Speaking of news:

HWZone checked out the Phenom X4 9350e & 9150e energy-efficient CPUs. AMD has achieved a small milestone of being first to offer 65W TDP quad-core processors with their new Phenom X4 9350e and 9150e processors. However their low clock speeds could be trouble against Intel's fast dual-core offerings. Can AMD's new Phenom X4 still hold its ground?

Norbs spotted this article on ArsTechnica about overclocking Mac Pros. If you have a 2.8GHz or higher Mac Pro or Xserve, though, even a relatively modest 10 percent performance boost might be worth the time to try the tool and check for stability. Because the tool works via software, and not hardware, the changes can be reset after a reboot.

Dan has some musings about DRM. One of the three original home video cassette systems was created by a movie company. So they implemented a system to prevent you from watching rented movies more than once. The lesson of what happened next would seem to _still_ not have been learned.

On the storage side of things, Tweaktown looked at a 32GB 2.5" SSD from Samsung while BenchMarkReviews checked out a Gigabit SATA NAS from QNAP. There's also a hard drive dock on TechPowerUp.

Today's timewaster is magic pen from wahoo84. Discussion here.
