From Peter: Just a note to let anyone in Brisbane know that there's a free clean-up of electronic waste in Brisbane this weekend if you have anything electronic you can't get rid of. Locations are at Northgate, Rochedale, Newmarket, Darra, Lota and Toowong. For more info go to this page.

Kogan Technologies have quite cheekily released a 37" LCD TV they're calling the Kevin37, because by sheer coincidence it will cost $900, which the Government is apparently giving everyone soon. The 1366 x 768 HD screen will even come with a free promotional T-shirt in the style of the Kevin 07 campaign shirt.

Speaking of cheeky TV, there's a funny video here, parodying the Freeview service in Australia. Freeview: More of the Same!

Microsoft meanwhile have a video showing the future, or at least, one view of some of the whizzo devices we might have by then. Apparently we had a near miss with an asteroid recently, thanks Seb. In astronomical terms it was a close call. Estimated to be between 30 metres and 50 metres wide, it passed almost seven times closer than the moon. Discussion here.

Qantas have had their three A380 Airbus planes grounded. "Qantas is an early customer of the A380 and naturally, as with any new aircraft type and like other operators of the A380, we expect the occasional issue to arise,'' the airline said in a statement.

TonyL pointed out a new case from Corsair at CeBIT. Something else that is very interesting is that the Corsair case comes with four hot swappable hard drive caddies that slip into a standard SATA backplane. The corsair case can hold six 3.5" hard drives and has five 5.25" optical drive bays, so you should have plenty of room to get things up and running. More pictures here.

From White Rhino: The Iron Photographer competition has a new format. You can discuss the February competition entries here and then cast your vote here. The March comp is also running and accepting entries up until the end of the month; it is a free challenge so there is no excuse to not enter.
