NASA's LCROSS mission to impact the moon with a high-energy probe and observe/sample the resulting debris cloud kicks off in a couple of hours or so. More info here. At 10:30pm (AEDT), the rocket and, four minutes later, the spacecraft will race into the moon at 9,000 kilometres per hour to kick up about 10 kilometres of lunar dirt from the Cabeus crater floor near the moon's south pole.
