Hope you had a fun New Years and all hangovers have fully subsided..
I'll resist my usual comment about flying cars, but c'mon, it's 2010 now! Seems I'm not the only person wondering why we aren't living in Star Trek yet. As we approach a new decade, nearly a third (32%) of Americans say they believed there would be greater technological advances by 2010, a new Zogby/ScoopDaily poll shows.
TeslaDownUnder ended 2009 with a bang, or at least, a giant tesla coil xmas tree. This year I did another Xmas tree based on the success of the one I did in 2007. I made it bigger (9m = 30 ft) and more spectacular by using a different technique. It still uses a long exposure and a rotating colored filter but the tree shape is outlined by sparks from a rotating rod on top of the Tesla coil.
Seb spotted a Y2.01K bug affecting Bank of Queensland. BOQ's Eftpos machines skipped ahead six years when the clock ticked over to January 1 and started date stamping January 2016. ... The glitch cost businesses untold amounts as the Eftpos terminals read customers' cards as having expired and refused their transactions.

Here's a funny mod turning a netbook into a giant mobile phone. So this guy buys a Dell Inspiron Mini 10.1-inch netbook but either isn’t happy at its lack of cellular coverage, or just has a severe phone fixation and decides to rip it apart and turn it into a Dell Mini 3i phone, complete with Android-based OS.
