Hope you had a fun New Years and all hangovers have fully subsided..

I'll resist my usual comment about flying cars, but c'mon, it's 2010 now! Seems I'm not the only person wondering why we aren't living in Star Trek yet. As we approach a new decade, nearly a third (32%) of Americans say they believed there would be greater technological advances by 2010, a new Zogby/ScoopDaily poll shows.

TeslaDownUnder ended 2009 with a bang, or at least, a giant tesla coil xmas tree. This year I did another Xmas tree based on the success of the one I did in 2007. Sal sent in these 3d fractals, with more info here. The original Mandelbrot is an amazing object that has captured the public's imagination for 30 years with its cascading patterns and hypnotically colourful detail.

Google Earth has been used to confirm a Dreamtime meteor legend. One of the stories - which tells of a star that fell into a waterhole called Puka in the valley, where Kulaia the serpent lived - had led to the discovery of the ancient crater, but there were "many, many more", Mr Hamacher said.
