Malcolm Turnbull has apparently claimed most of Australia doesn't want 100Mbps internet. “The reality is, there simply isn’t demand at the household and every small business level for Internet at that speed, at a price which would make it even remotely financially viable,” the former Opposition Leader told a forum he convened in Sydney to discuss Labor’s mandatory Internet filter policy. But Computerworld think the numbers say otherwise.

One election issue we haven't heard much about is the R18+ rating for video games. With the Federal Election just a fortnight away, Gamespot quizzed the Labor Party, the Liberal/National Coalition and the Australian Greens on a range of topics close to the heart of gamers around the country. When it came to reforming our classification system, only the Greens declared unequivocal support for the introduction of an R18+ rating for games.

The CEO of HP has resigned amid scandals. According to SEC filings, Hurd has made more than $125 million from HP since joining the company in 2005. He's also made quite a bit of money for HP: the share price of the company has jumped from $21.71 on April 1, 2005—Hurd's first day as HP CEO--to $41.85 at the close of business (and his tenure) Friday.

Mozilla's Firefox will silently update itself from version 4. The move takes a page from Google Chrome, which uses an automated updater that runs in the background. Chrome's auto-update strategy has meant that 97 percent of Chrome users are running the most up-to-date version of the browser within three weeks of an update's release, a number Mozilla may be shooting for.

Australian pricing for the long-awaited Gran Turismo 5 has been revealed. There's 3 options and you can spend $299 if you want to get a pile of goodies with it.

A journalist has had a sneak preview of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighters Australia will be recieving in 2015. They're calling it almost uncrashable thanks to a new technology. Current systems are simply based on terrain awareness and warnings which alert pilots of impending collisions. The big difference is that Auto-GCAS actually wrests control off the pilot and takes evasive action. Hrm, hopefully that's not like the Titanic being almost unsinkable..
