BF1942 v1.1 Patch Error - FIX!

The BF1942 v1.1 Multiplayer Demo patch has been a source of frustration for some. There's reports all over the net of people receiving this error when trying to install it:
TheTron has uncovered a solution, which worked for me:
This requires some registry editing, so be sure you know how to use regedit.exe. Look up the regkey called:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942 Multiplayer Demo
It should contain some values. One of these values is the reason that the patch won't install, so look up the following:
ONLYSERVER REG_DWORD 0x00000001
doubleclick this value, and change the '1' to a '0'.
The usual disclaimers about mangling your registry maybe doing horrible things to your PC apply.. but this fix worked on my PC.
