One interesting thing from CES is NVIDIA's announcement of Project Denver, an ARM-compatible CPU. With Microsoft making noises about Windows on ARM, people are wondering how it will pan out. Microsoft said Windows on Arm would initially work on Arm-based chips from Nvidia, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments, which mostly go into smartphones and tablets. Just as Microsoft announced Windows for Arm on Wednesday at CES, Nvidia announced its first CPUs for PCs and servers, code-named Denver, which are based on the Arm architecture. More here.

Intel have responded to the concern about DRM in Sandy Bridge. Intel Insider is a service that enables consumers to enjoy premium Hollywood feature films streamed to their PC in high quality 1080P high definition. Currently this service does not exist because the movie studios are concerned about protecting their content, and making sure that it cannot be stolen or used illegally. So Intel created Intel insider, an extra layer of content protection. Think of it as an armoured truck carrying the movie from the Internet to your display, it keeps the data safe from pirates, but still lets you enjoy your legally acquired movie in the best possible quality.

Apparently the US Government has subpoenaed Twitter with regards to the Wikileaks investigation. This possibly includes the 600,000 or so Wikileaks followers on Twitter. Twitter is in a difficult position. Considering their stance during the Iranian elections supporting the freedom of speech, it will appear as if the company is backtracking or giving into pressure by handing over details of its users to its government.

TBreak interviewed David Roman from Lenovo at CES. I had the opportunity to have a casual chat with Lenovo’s CMO, David Roman, who explained how fast Lenovo has been growing and what their plans are. Meanwhile HWHeaven spoke with Matt Davis from AMD. AMD is intentionally crafting a marketing message around the PC experience, not just the speeds and feeds. For many consumers, buying a PC can be overwhelming.

Following on from the arcade project linked earlier, deepspring spotted this tiny version, for iPad. The iCADE was first conceptualized by Thinkgeek and unveiled on April Fool's day last year and ION partnered with the retailer to develop and bring the product to market. The iCADE provides an analog interface for gameplay through a joystick and buttons, connecting to the iPad via Bluetooth.

Here's an interesting video called Reformat the Planet. Penny-Arcade have the whole thing viewable here. Reformat the Planet began with the intention of documenting the influence of video game culture on an increasingly diverse range of modern art. Originally titled Play, the project served as the genesis of 2 Player Productions in 2005. The fledgling crew set out conducting interviews with various artists, including several noted members of the game development community.

XbitLabs look back at 2010, and make some PC Predictions for 2011. The year 2011 is most likely to be a defining year of the personal technology industry. X-bit labs believes that in 2011 the war between ARM and x86 will officially start, the market of tablet PCs will skyrocket, Google Android will become the most popular operating system for smartphones and overclocking stereo-3D will become a "free" feature on premium HDTVs. In addition, the beginning of the APU era will blur the lines between netbooks and notebooks, whereas Intel's Sandy Bridge will change the approach to CPU overclocking forever.

A recent murder conviction was achieved with help from the suspect's browser history. On Wednesday, November 25, 1998, Julie Jensen volunteered to help out in her son's third-grade classroom in Kenosha, Wisconsin. While she was there, she confided in her son's teacher; she feared that her husband was attempting to poison her, in part due to his Internet search habits.

NASA is trying to get back in touch with a Mars rover. Nine months after losing communication with the Mars rover Spirit, NASA is bumping up its efforts to reconnect with the robot. Scientists fear the that the rover, stuck in the dirt on the surface of the Red Planet, has succumbed to the frigid temperatures on Mars. Meanwhile, you can bid on NASA goodies from the past. For example, shown here is the headset Charlie Duke (future Apollo 16 moonwalker) used as CAPCOM to talk to the Apollo 11 astronauts, and this was the very headset he used to listen to the first words spoken from another world!

Finally, from Scoobth: Speed Demos Archive, the home to video game speed runs, is proud to present our second annual speed running marathon: Awesome Games Done Quick, a 4-day event played for charity and streamed live for the world to watch.
