China joins the former Soviet Union and the USA in sending a human into space. This is some pretty big news, there's a thread discussing it in our Media & Current Events forum here. Most people (elsewhere too) seem to be focussing more on the politics than the technology. Oh well. :)

One of the things I complained about in my VapoChill review was that the ChillControl utility was only accessible via a DOS floppy disk. HotHardware have a sneak preview of a Windows version that I will be very interested in taking a look at when it's available.

There's a mIRC exploit which can let someone crash your browser. Info here, download a patched version here. Thanks to everyone who sent those in. The really funny thing was watching all the scriptkiddies coming into #overclockers and trying unsuccessfully to use this exploit.

NordicHardware compared a couple of GeForce FX 5600 video cards.

We've seen this guessing game before but it's a pretty clever time-waster so worth another go, thanks OMAGAN.

Bjorn3D set up a RAID0 array using two 200GB Maxtor drives. For a similar thing but using 2 and 4 WD Raptor drives, see here.

IBM has a new mainframe CPU in the works, while Transmeta have debuted their Efficeon processor. This new CPU has an interesting approach to solving transistor leakage.. hmm, that last one almost sounds like an April fools gag, not heard of that issue before.

AusGamers have info on a new Xbox Bundle, if you're thinking of picking one up for Christmas, thanks Herby.

PCGuide have an article about Serial ATA vs Parallel ATA hard drives.

Punkychan noticed that NEC have some watercooled desktop PC's (machine-translated link) on offer.

PCWorld compared Apple's G5 with some high-end PC systems. Digital-Daily compared Athlon 64 FX vs P4 EE, high-end CPUs from AMD and Intel. Our review of the Athlon 64 FX is here.

Herby reckons we all have a Hobbit name. Mine's Fosco Brambleburr of Bindbale Wood. Righto then.

Merrill Lynch have some observations about the semiconductor market. In some ways things are a little too good at the moment, apparently.

GamersDepot have posted part 2 of their Newbie Cooling Guide. Handy if you find your newbie is prone to overheating, I guess.

Dan wants to do something about all those darn wires everywhere. Meanwhile, Futurelooks reckon it's a wide wireless world already.

VR-Zone have some interesting tidbits from the Intel Developer Forum in Taiwan recently, with lots of PCI Express stuff.

It seems Western Digital are cutting the warranty on their retail Special Edition drives from 3 years to one year, unfortunately.

I got my car P's yesterday. Yay me! :)
