A couple of behind-the-scenes updates from Panadol, who wrote the system that powers the site's new look:- The News Archive script has been updated with some smarter SQL (thanks MWP!) that has greatly sped it up. I did some quick tests - the server reported that the Last 7 Days view took between 4 and 9 seconds to build before the update, now it's taking between 0.3 and 0.6 seconds.
- The Monthly News Archive script has been updated and now properly displays all months back to March 2000, when we first started using NewsPro - the entire historical NewsPro database has been inhaled into the new system of course. For news prior to that, see this big text file.
- The script that displays new forum threads on the site body (at bottom left of this page for example) has had a bug fixed that was occasionally causing text/background to wander outside the border and look weird.
Thanks Panadol! Actually, cruising around the News Archive is pretty cool, some funny stuff back in the earlier days of the site.. how far we've come. :)
