The Finished Product, Conclusions

The Finished Product
The overall result if you ask me (my opinion is why you're reading this, right?) is quite good:

As shown, the install is quite painless - all you need is a screwdriver and possibly a drill.

These covers don't exhibit the "edge" problems of the old stick-on covers and don't require you to butcher anything major, if anything at all. One thing you'll notice from the photos is that the covers aren't an exact match for the case finish - the flash from my camera tends to exaggerate this.

In normal light, the vertical brushings on the flap/door seem to be darker, and with a flash seem brighter. It's not an exact match. The rest of the face is a very close match for the original case finish, though. I've found that after having used them for a while that I didn't tend to notice it as much. When a photo without the flash (but a light source directly in front) is taken, the cover tends to blend in better with the finish of the case, as shown in the rightmost photo.

Conclusions
Overall, I have to say I'm quite happy with the look of the covers and that I can't think of anything obvious wrong with them. The finish isn't an exact match, but they're the best I've seen yet. The price isn't the best ($27.50 each) but the quality is good. The average PC owner is going to want two of these - and $55 is a fair bit to be spending just to cover up some ugly beige drives. So ultimately whether they're worth or not it is up to you. They turned my case from looking like this:

to this:

I'm happy with the result. If they were a bit cheaper, or were a closer match to the case's actual finish, I'd be perfectly happy with them.

Overall? Recommended.

AUS PC Market sell the C-01 faceplate cover for $27.50. It also comes in a black version, for you owners of black Lian Li cases.
