Date  23rd Febuary 2009 Author  dirtyd Editor  James "Agg" Rolfe Manufacturer  AMD Test Results Test Results: Sandra – Processor Arithmetic In the ALU test the Core 2 Quad starts out impressively against the Phenom II, scoring a respectable 5% advantage even with its 11% clock speed shortfall, and then cruising to a 15% win at overclocked speeds. Interestingly the effects of overclocking the NB of the Phenom II show a mild 2% increase, not much, but worthy of mention. Phenom II performs better in the floating point tests, but is still lagging behind the Q8200 in clock for clock comparisons and at stock frequency. Sandra – Multimedia The Phenom II scores a win in the integer tests, thanks to the tuned NB, which ekes out almost 3% for the Phenom II, putting it ahead of the Core 2 Quad by just under 1%. Not exactly a crushing victory, but I think the potential for further tweaks is definitely there. The floating point tests are a different story, as Intel matches the Phenom II at retail speeds, then pulls out an 11% lead when overclocked. Sandra – Cryptography The two CPUs score closely in both tests at factory clocks, indicative of Intels IPC (Instructions Per Clock) lead for this particular test, which is confirmed with 13% and 8% wins in the cryptographic and hashing tests, respectively.
