BIOS
The Asus UEFI BIOS is largely unchanged since its introduction with their P67 boards. After pressing DEL to enter the BIOS, users are presented with the 'EZ mode' screen seen below. There aren't many controls here other than some profile and boot setting options.

Pressing F7 or selecting the advanced mode takes the user to the more familiar and traditional BIOS settings pages. The main page seen below is the first page seen when entering the advanced mode. Basic information about the system can be seen here.

Moving over to the next page brings us to the overclocking settings, or Ai Tweaker in Asus speak. The P8Z77-V Deluxe has a full range of overclocking settings, generally more than we've seen with recent Asus channel boards.

Moving over to the advanced page brings the user to extensive controls of the various motherboard devices and parameters including the CPU technologies and IGP controls.

The monitoring page also contains the fan control features. Speeds for all the fan headers on the board offer manual control for fans that support adjustment.

The boot device selection and various POST options can be set from the boot page.

The final page contains the BIOS flash utility and profiles menu. The board can store eight nameable profiles.

Asus was obviously content with their early UEFI layouts as users familiar with the BIOS' found on Asus' P67 and Z68 boards will be right at home here. The overclocking menus are easy to navigate and work well as they should with the conservative settings used by air cooled Ivy bridge chips. We had no problems at all with our test memory kit. The controls are logically laid out with most items having accompanying descriptions. The colour scheme is plain but contrasts well with respect to the text. Keyboard and mouse lag is nonexistent.

Software
The P8Z77-V Deluxe comes with a huge range of accompanying software.

We'd need a month to cover all the software, so we'll focus on what is useful for overclockers. One thing we haven't covered here is the Lucid Virtu MVP functions which are worthy of a separate article.

The primary overclocking application is the long used Asus TurboV Evo tool. This tool offers full control over CPU base clock, multiplier and all the important voltages. Full monitoring is also provided. The tool works well and its interface is refreshingly free of garish clutter.

The P8Z77-V Deluxe comes with a well featured fan control application that has the ability to create custom fan cooling curves. The user can set these curves according to the circumstance. Quiet running, slow or fast ramping up or anything in between is possible.

We can't overlook the WiFi Go! software. As we talked about, the P8Z77-V Deluxe has perhaps the most advanced WiFi features ever seen on a desktop motherboard. The WiFi Go! utility is a complete application for streaming media to DLNA devices, file transferring and linking with WiFi compatible devices. It can also serve as a router for sharing internet between devices. These features alone put the P8Z77-V Deluxe ahead of the competition and will justify the high asking price for many users.
