15-Oct-99 - Lance (subside) from NZ with a simple but clever ducting idea:
I have this PPGA C400 o/c to 98x6 588 - normal temp is about 35șC while idle and after playings games gets up to around 40șC. 99x6 always heated up to much and when playing some games the computer crashed.
So decided I would try make something to help cool it down a bit, until I could order some heatsink/fan most likely Globalwin FEP32 seeing i have Abit BP6 mainboard and so far i havent seen any sold in New Zealand.

So anyway what i did was i got this plastic bottle of some kind (fairly strong plastic) cut both ends off, cleaned it up a bit, was the perfect size of a normal Case Fan. So i taped this case fan on to one end then just pushed this over the Intel Retail Heatsink/fan that comes with C400 - sits nicely with nothing extra holding it up.

but what it does is helps the hot air to be directed out of the case now my cpu is at 99x6 =594 and never gets above 35șC - to me thats pretty darn good cooling for what it is.
Update - I've lapped the CPU and it does 600MHz now.. 612 is good but games crash every now and then.
