The applications and games used in today's tests are the latest of what was available at the time of this analysis - links to demos and free trials are provided when applicable. MSI's GeForce GTX 550 Ti Cyclone II OC features a default core clock of 950 MHz, shader of 1900 MHz and memory running at 2150 MHz (4300 MHz effective). This is a mild but welcome increase from the reference core clock of 900 MHz, shader of 1800 MHz and memory of 2050 MHz (4100 MHz effective). Overclocking allowed us to increase the core to 1060 MHz and memory to 2500 MHz (5000 MHz effective) making use of core voltage adjustments present in MSI's own Afterburner software. And while we didn't have a Radeon HD 5770 to directly compare the two cards, the list of cards should provide an nice comparison to where it stands performance wise compared to pricier graphics solutions. Game Benchmarks: We have compiled a list of popular and graphically challenging games which include titles utilising Microsoft's DirectX 9, 10 and 11 APIs for testing today; tested in 1920x1200 and 1680x1050 resolutions that are most commonly used by gamers based on Steam's hardware survey.
