Noise and Temperature Results:
Noise measurements were taken with a digital sound meter approximately 3cm away from the video card fan, reducing the ability of other components such as the CPU or PSU fans to interfere with the final results. Software used for stressing was 3D Mark Vantage, looped until the sound level was stable and stopped rising.

Temperature readings were taken at an ambient temperature of approximately 22 degrees Celsius, on an open test bench and with the fan set to auto. Load and idle temperatures were monitored by MSI's Afterburner utility. Software used for stressing was 3D Mark Vantage, looped until the temperate was stable and stopped rising.

Conclusions
NVIDIA really have a winner with the GTX 580. It improves on every area that was negatively spoken about with the GTX 480 when released. The cooling system has been redesigned with a more adaptive GPU fan control, a custom vapor chamber is implemented, and a larger focus on venting heat outside the case rather than radiating that heat to adjacent cards when in SLI. Its architecture has also been tweaked at a hardware level allowing for less leakage from the GPU, reducing the TDP to 244W, as well as finally unlocking all 512 CUDA processors that we were promised before the GTX 480 was launched, making it up to 20% faster than the earlier card.

NVIDIA once again maintain their lead as the fastest single GPU on the planet; whilst the GTX 480 maintained that position for some time, with the release of the GTX 580 it add another layer of performance on top of a very fast GPU, solidifying its performance crown all while using less power and running cooler. But the question is for how long? Only time will tell.
